Notable Wiki is an online free-content research project to document remarkable people and organizations globally. It's powered by Wikimedia Foundation software (the best-known application being Wikipedia) and a model of freely editable content.
A wiki is a technology for creating collaborative websites, from the Hawaiian word wiki, meaning "quick". Notable Wiki's articles provide links designed to guide the user to related pages with additional information within itself (internal links) and to Wikimedia Foundation properties such as Wikiepedia.
While Notable Wiki shares technology and principles with the Wikimedia Foundation, the two entities operate entirely independently and have no other connections. The Wikimedia Foundation (and Wikipedia) in no direct way supports or contributes to Notable Wiki.
Notable Wiki is managed collaboratively by writers and editors who curate articles on notable individuals and organizations. Changes to articles can be requested through individual pages, but must be approved by the article subjects to ensure accuracy. Due to the nature of our content, all articles are "locked" by default to prevent vandalism or unsubstantiated edits.
